Grab a bargain of great tasting wine.
Yes, like the cheese. But you can drink it.
Pecorino is the "comeback kid" of Italian wine. Thought to be extinct by the mid-20th century, this ancient variety was rediscovered in the 1980s hiding in overgrown vineyards across Abruzzo and Le Marche.
The name comes from pecora (sheep). Legend says local shepherds would drive their flocks through the Apennine mountains, letting the sheep snack on these small, particularly sweet grapes.
The Taste:
Forget watery white wines; Pecorino packs a punch. It offers a beautiful balance of crisp acidity and rich texture.
• Notes: White peach, lemon zest, acacia, and wild sage.
• Finish: A distinct, savory minerality from the Adriatic sea breeze.
Drink With:
Seafood risotto, grilled vegetables, or—naturally—a generous wedge of Pecorino cheese.
Experience the grape the sheep tried to keep for themselves.
