A revival of the original gin style from the 18th century, Old Tom bridges the gap between dry and sweet. Expect a rounded, lightly sweetened profile with soft juniper and citrus notes.

Named "Old Tom" after signs outside pubs shaped like a black cat (an "old Tom") that dispensed gin through a hidden pipe (true story!).

Spirit Business Master-winning Broken Bones Old Tom Gin was praised for being “citrus-forward, complex and interesting; grapefruit, anise, and honeyed sweetness”. 

A marvellous Old Tom gin here from the Broken Bones Distillery in Ljubljana, which is the capital of Slovenia. Its botanical selection features the likes of local juniper, rosehips, linden flowers, and plenty more traditional ingredients. Post-distillation, Slovene linden honey is added to the spirit, imparting the classic Old Tom sweetness.

The team at Broken Bones includes an element of Slovenia in all of its products, with a range of gins that include botanicals picked in the Slovenian Karst region, and whiskies aged in Slovenian oak barrels.

The name Broken Bones presented itself in July 2016, while founders Boštjan Marušič and Borut Osojnik were busy filling their first whisky barrels. Both suffered accidents that saw them requiring hospital treatment – one broken leg and one broken nose! Barrels can be dangerous things it turns out. Fortunately, neither break was too bad, and as a silver lining, the team had chanced upon a name for their distillery.
